Tony Petrello Supports Neurological Research for Children Out of Love for Daughter

Release Fact recently published Brain Harris’ article called “Tony Petrello Helps to Launch the Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital”. The article details the CEO of Nabors Industries and his recent contributions to the local Houston community through his donations to the Texas Children’s Hospital.

Tony Petrello has been in Texas since 1991 after he joined Nabors Industries. Despite leading the company to new profits and new growth, he experienced some personal and emotional challenges when his daughter was born.

His daughter, Carena, was born at 24 weeks weighing only a little over one pound. Because she was born so early, she developed periventricular leukomalacia. The disorder occurs often in premature infants preventing blood flow and adequate oxygen from reaching the brain. Because her brain did not receive enough oxygen at birth, she developed another disorder, cerebral palsy, which primarily effects motor skill development.

Tony Petrello’s love for his child encouraged him on his search for the latest research and advancements in treating such neurological disorders. Even looking internationally, Petrello was disappointed in the amount of research available.

This led to Tony Petrello’s generous donation of seven million dollars to the Neurological Research Institute at the hospital where he served on the Board, namely Texas Children’s Hospital. The donation will help the research facility provide the most precise care available to those children who are in similar situations as Carena. Children with challenging, expensive, and often life-threatening diseases will now have access to some of the top neurological physicians and surgeons.

Tony Petrello supports the institute in their search for a cure of the disorders affecting children’s brains. Despite the challenge, Tony and his wife have felt the support and kindness of the doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital who have dedicated their time to helping children with neurological disorders.

Petrello and his wife often speak at events or through charity, hoping to bring an end to the severe neurological disorders so no other parent has to go through that situation.

Before joining Nabors Industries, Petrello worked in tax and corporate law at Baker & McKenzie. There he acted as a partner in the New York Office. He joined Nabors in 1991, leading the largest oil and gas land drilling company to incredible grow. He became the President and CEO after ten years with the company.

Mr. Petrello is also incredibly well-educated. He gained his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Yale, his Masters of Science in Mathematics from Yale, and finally his Juris Doctorate from Harvard.
