Tony Petrello is the CEO, President, and Chairman of the Board of Nabors Industries. His leadership has led to Nabors Industries being the largest land-based oil, natural gas, and geothermal driller in the world. The company has operations around the world. Nabors Industries also sells drilling rigs and equipment to offshore drillers which they support with software and a fleet of 29 marine vessels.
Earlier in his career, Tony Petrello was a lawyer at the New York legal firm Baker & McKenzie. He worked at Baker & McKenzie for 12 years, serving as the Managing Partner for the last five of those years before joining Nabors Industries in 1991. He has been very successful leading Nabors Industries which has led to him being rewarded very well financially. In the fiscal year 2015, he earned a total compensation of about $27.664 million.
Tony Petrello has used some of his earnings in order to benefit others. After his daughter was born early, she was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia which is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. Eventually, she developed cerebral palsy due to this condition. As a response, Tony and his wife, Cynthia, have donated $7 million to the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute that is located at Texas Children’s Hospital, LLC in Houston, Texas. Mr. Petrello also serves as a Director of Texas Children’s Hospital and serves on its Board of Trustees.
